Mariah – pet photo session

Mariah – pet photo session

Whereas the last photo session I did was all about color, I found myself really drawn to the black and white versions from this latest series. Meet Mariah, a very sweet and cuddly kind of dog. For her pet photography session, we went to the duck pond by the Arboretum and let her roam around the trees. Even though we kept her from taking a dip in the pond, she had a blast exploring the new sights and sounds around her.

Kate and Carsyn – 1st birthday session

Kate and Carsyn – 1st birthday session

Since the weather has been cold and foggy in the mornings, we made use of my front room-turned-photo-studio to document Kate and Carsyn’s first birthday weekend. Usually I like to show a mixture of color and black & white from my photo sessions – but with these two – it’s ALL color ALL the way. Get a load of those sweet outfits, the tulle, the hair bows, the rainbows, the glitter. It’s all sparkle. I had a blast photographing Ms. Kate and Ms. Carsyn turning one. They share a birthday – and also share a similar wardrobe 🙂 Never mind that we’ll be picking glitter off of each other for weeks, it was worth it to get these fun moments.

I have some favorite outtakes – the foot full of icing, Kate posing and Carsyn’s expression,  and the moment when you’re just ready to hang up your tutu and eat some cake.

Carsyn & Friends

Carsyn & Friends

The goal – photograph various combinations of 11 people (which included two babies, one toddler, one getting-over-a-cold-so-I-can’t-get-too-close Grandpa and one very sweet (but deaf) dog.

It was the “Carsyn & Friends” show! Chaos, lots of laugher and lots more outfit changes. Thank you to Heather, Sam, Carsyn, John, Angela, Kate, Kim, Chuck, Kira, Suzanne and Steve for letting me capture those moments. And full disclosure – with over 900 photos taken, there were lots of fun outtakes with this bunch.

Outtakes such as the levitating Christmas wreath or all the kids making a dash for the decorations or Kate making a grab for Carsyn’s bow.

Westyn & Family – Portrait Session

Westyn & Family – Portrait Session

Say hello to Shannon, Steven and Westyn Owen. I met this lovely family at the park behind Central Market on a cloudy Sunday afternoon. Westyn (6 months old) was full of gummy grins and couldn’t get enough of the stacking blocks. Mostly because she wanted to keep eating them.

I have two favorite outtakes – this candid moment during an outfit change and this moment when Westyn decided to eat Christmas.

Max K. & Family

Max K. & Family

Meet Max K. and his parents: Jeff and Katherine. We spend the morning at Zilker Park near the Hillside Theater. Max wanted to climb rocks, take his stuffed zebra on a walk and join the karate-potluck going on nearby. It was fun chasing after the little guy. Max K. has been friends with our Max (also know as Max M. or Elder Max) since he was born. And it will be exciting to see what Max K.’s little sister-to-be adds to this fun group.

I think this is my favorite outtake – and we got to hear Max K. practice saying “rock” a lot.
