St. Edwards Park – Senior Photo Session

St. Edwards Park – Senior Photo Session

Class of 2026 High School Photo Session | Austin Senior Photographer

I last saw this High School Senior when I did her family photos at the Blanton Museum two years ago. (And we got some Senior photos for her older sister then).

When it came time for her own Senior Photos, she requested a nature background. I did some scouting at St. Edwards Park (a spot I’ve haven’t had a Senior session at yet).

The park was looking pretty green for end of summer, but we decided to bring some flowers with us for a pop of color.

If you’re also interested in having your High School Senior Photo Session at St. Edwards Park, check out my tips below.

Tips for High School Senior Photo Sessions at St. Edwards Park

  • Plan to park in the small lot at 7301 Spicewood Springs Road
  • There aren’t restrooms on site, so you’ll have to change outfits in your car
  • Spring can bring fields of wildflowers. The rest of the year has lush greenery along the trails
  • Keep an eye out of cactus and ants in the fields (I recommend wearing a pair of cowboy boots during your session)
  • You can also hike down to the greenbelt for some water views

Client Feedback and Advice

  1. What do you plan to do with your digital photos? I plan to use the digital photos for a yearbook ad celebrating Kate’s graduation and for her graduation announcement.
  2. What advice would you give to others planning a similar Senior photo session? My advice is to moms of very independent kids: now is not the time to completely cede control on the outfits, or you may end up surprised on picture day.  Have your senior try on what he or she wants to wear at least a week before pictures and make sure you don’t need to go shopping.
  3. Anything else you’d like to add about working with Stephanie Friedman Photography? We had a great time with Stephanie!  I can’t wait to see the pictures!

Skateboarding at the Long Center – High School Photo Session

Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin | High School Photo Session

When trying to find a scenic skateboarding-friendly location, we decided on the Long Center. It’s a great backdrop for photos in downtown Austin.

And that concrete rotunda and pathways made for some fun action shots. We also got more traditional posed photos in a variety of backgrounds.

If you live in Austin and are also interested in having your photos taken at the Long Center, check out my tips below:

Tips for High School Photo Sessions at the Long Center:

  • Check the Long Center Event calendar to see if there are any conflicting events
  • The roof of the Long Center Garage also has great skyline views and is rarely crowded (I like the colorful yellow and purple painted walls by the stairs & elevators)
  • Be prepared to change outfits in your car since there isn’t a restroom nearby
  • Golden hour sessions (one hour before sunset) make great lighting on the buildings downtown
  • You can pay to the park at the Long Center garage or look for a spot on the street

The Long Center in Austin is a great backdrop for your High School Photo Session.

With a variety of architectural details and fun reflections, it makes a unique urban setting. And you can get great skyline views of downtown Austin from the rotunda.

Newborn + Family – Photo Session at Home

Newborn + Family – Photo Session at Home

Life at Home with a Newborn | Austin Family Photographer

I first met this family while documenting their newest baby’s C-Section birth.

c-section birth documentary photo session in austin

After the birth, I went to their house a week later to get some family photos at home.

If you live in Austin and are also interested in having a newborn family session at home, check out my tips below.

Tips for At Home Newborn Family Photo Sessions:

  • Before your session, I’ll ask if you have any images in mind that you definitely want to try and capture (Pinterest inspiration HERE)
  • Also before your session, I’ll let you know how to prepare your house and family before I arrive (For your house: some light tidying/de-cluttering in the rooms we’ll be in; For your family: comfortable clothes that coordinate with each other)
  • We can also talk pre-session if there are any activities you want to include for any older kids you have (ex. reading together, playing with toys, etc.)
  • When I arrive, before I even take out my camera, I’ll walk around your house to see where the best light is falling. I’ll also help clear away any clutter you may have missed.
  • I’ll then put you all close to window light and get some posed and candid shots of you all together and then the baby by themselves.
  • FYI: We will be on the newborn’s schedule. So if they need a diaper change or a feeding, we’ll always make time for those needs.
  • I’ll also make sure to ask if you want to include any important and sentimental items (ex. certain baby blanket) in your images as well.
