We went to visit my sister-in-law for her baby shower in Dallas earlier this month. While we were there, I also took her maternity photos. She found this cute park in Addison for her location. Armed with plenty of props (love that the Pink Power Ranger helmet made an appearance) – we explored the water and trail.

Old Settlers Park | Austin Maternity Photographer
When we looked at the weather forecast for this maternity session and saw highs in the 90s, this couple graciously switched from a sunset to a sunrise session. Bonus – their location, Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, was mostly deserted that early.

We walked around the water and explored as the sun rose. Also, I loved how prepared they were with great props and accessories we got to incorporate into their photos. Best wishes on the birth of your baby boy later this summer!
If you’d also like to have a photo session at Old Settlers Park, here’s some information:
- EVENTS CALENDAR: Check out their Events calendar in case of conflicts.
- PARKING: There are multiple parking lots throughout the park
- LOCATIONS: I like the waterfront area best
- RESTROOMS: There are public restroom across the park
- NEARBY RESTAURANTS: If you’d like to go out for dinner after your photo session, some nearby options include Salt Lick BBQ near the Dell Diamond, Blue Corn Harvest Bar & Grill and Torchy’s Tacos.
- DOG-FRIENDLY: Yes, as long as they are on leash.
- WHAT TO BRING: Baby clothes, ultrasound photos, nursery gear, etc.

Stephanie Friedman first picked up a camera in high school, went on to study photojournalism at the University of Texas (Hook ‘Em), then worked as a photo researcher in educational publishing for over 20 years.
Besides all that, she’s been photographing Families and Seniors for the last 10 years. You can count on her to be communicative and organized before your session. She’ll help you feel relaxed and confident during your session. And you’ll have a smile on your face after your session once you see your new photos.

It’s not every Maternity Session that has a Newborn Session happen about 36 hours later. But I’m getting ahead of myself. I was traveling to Orlando, FL for work – and made time to take some photos of these friends/co-workers. It was 3 weeks until due date – so really our main concern was the weather. The rain held off – and we had fun running around a windy field near Lake Baldwin. The day I was due to fly back to Texas, I got some exciting texts that morning that things were happening. Grabbing my camera and heading to the hospital, I was able to meet the newest member of their family and still make it to my flight on time. Welcome to the World, Baby G!

You may remember this delightful family – from either Aaron’s first birthday photos, his 6 month portrait session or their most recent holiday photos. Well this time around I was happy to also document Baby #2-to-be (it’s a girl!)
Braving high humidity and avoiding countless ant piles, we explored the loop behind Central Market, with stops to feed the ducks – taking photos all the way.
Please enjoy this sneak peek. To see all the photos and purchase prints from their session: click here. And when dealing with toddlers, in the spirit of – “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” – check out my favorite outtake as well.

Lindsey and I met up at Mayfield Park for her maternity portrait session. Since she knew she was having a girl, I surprised her with a bunch of pink balloons. With her great smile, I knew the shoot would go well. You can see here some of my favorite images from the session.
