Wildflowers in a Fall Field | Austin Senior Photographer
When discussing locations for her High School Senior Photo Session, this Class of 2026 student asked for “outdoors and wildflowers.”
Knowing it’s hard to find wildflowers in Austin in the late Summer / early Fall, I started location scouting. (And mentioned we should bring a bouquet of flowers just in case).
But after driving around, I hit a few patches of wildflowers at my fourth location – Brushy Creek Lake Park in Cedar Park, TX.
So we met up (bouquet of flowers as a backup), and had the huge fields mostly to ourselves (it was a Monday night).
If you’re also interested in having your High School Senior Photo Session at Brushy Creek Lake Park, check out my tips below.
Tips for High School Senior Photo Sessions at Brushy Creek Lake Park
The Park can get crowded on weekends so try for a weekday session
There are restrooms on site you can use for outfit changes
Spring can bring fields of wildflowers (including bluebonnets). The rest of the year has lush greenery and tall grass along the water
Keep an eye out for ants in the fields (I recommend wearing a pair of cowboy boots or pants during your session)
You can also hike down to the dock for more water views

Client Feedback and Advice
What prompted you to have this photo session? I wanted to do my senior photos, and I looked online and through your blog and of other pictures you had taken and decided that your work was the best from what I had previously looked at.
What do you plan to do with your digital photos? Once I get my photos I plan to save them and post them on social media. I also will have them framed in my place once I move out, and I’m sure my mom will want the same.
How did you choose your location for your session? I was deciding between a few different ones, but when you sent that one (Brushy Creek Lake Park) to my mom, it hit all the points I wanted from the forest and greenery vibe to the water and the sunset vibe.
What advice would you give to others planning a similar Senior photo session? Plan your outfits before that definitely helped me out, as well as having comfy shoes you can walk in case some heels or boots will hurt your feet. Try o be flexible with posing, it may feel weird, but trust the photographer
Anything else you’d like to add about working with Stephanie Friedman Photography? She was great! Her directions were easy to follow and made me look amazing. She also made me feel very comfortable overall and was super fun!!

Why all Teens Need Senior Photos | High School Senior Photography
Once-in-a-lifetime Milestone
Yes – everyone has a camera on their phone. But Senior year is a once-in-a-lifetime milestone, and it deserves to be celebrated in a way that lasts. As an Austin senior photographer, I believe every teen deserves to have professional photos that capture this exciting moment. Senior portraits aren’t just pictures—they’re keepsakes of your teen’s personality, interests, and confidence as they step into the next chapter of their life.
And these may be the last professional photos you have of them until their wedding day.
As a mom of a high schooler myself, here’s why I think every high school senior in Austin (and beyond!) deserves their own photo session:
WHY ARE SENIOR PHOTOS NECESSARY:
Your teen will only be a high school senior once. Senior pictures in Austin, Texas are a way to freeze this moment in time so you’ll always remember who they were like during this year full of events “for the last time.”
These portraits become treasured reminders of their senior year before college, careers, and new adventures as adults begin.
SENIOR PHOTOS CELEBRATE THEIR INDIVIDUALITY:
Every teen has their own passions and personality. A professional senior session lets them express who they are—whether that’s through favorite outfits, props, or choosing one of Austin’s beautiful photo locations like the Long Center, Zilker Park, or the UT campus. Senior photos tell their story in a way nothing else can.
CREATE LASTING KEEPSAKES:
From graduation announcements to party invitations, yearbook ads, and framed gifts, professional portraits give you endless ways to celebrate. Having a full gallery of Austin senior photos ensures you’ll always have something meaningful and beautiful to share.
CELEBRATE THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Senior photos are a way to commemorate this major accomplishment and all the growth and development that has happened during high school.
They can show off all their hard work after a year of studying and college applications.
Senior photos are so much more than a tradition—they’re a way to honor your teen’s journey and celebrate the person they’ve become. As an Austin senior photographer, my goal is to create portraits that feel authentic, joyful, and timeless.
If your teen is graduating soon, now is the perfect time to schedule their senior photo session. Let’s capture images that celebrate their story and preserve these memories for a lifetime.
