Happy Holiday Photo Session from Bull Creek District Park for this family! We had fun climbing trees, playing in the tall grass and I bet you can guess which 2 out of this group of 5 ended up getting wet in the creek by the end of the session 🙂 🙂

Since home is where most of us have been stuck for 2020, it’s the perfect setting to document your end of year family photos.

I’ve noticed when I get to photograph families year after year, they like to alternate between urban and natural settings. So last year we met up at the colorful storefronts of the Domain Northside. This year, we met at the Seider Springs Greenbelt.
So trees were climbed, sticks got turned into weapons and tall grass made for some hide and seek.

Top 10 Reasons to have your extended family photo session at home
Advantages include:
- No travel or traffic stress
- Don’t have to worry about crowds at your location
- Instant access to snacks, diapers or outfit changes for the kids
- Lots of chances to play in your yard – throw leaves, climb trees, and dance around
- Also if the kids need a break, they can play nearby while other family members get their turn in front of the camera
- Easy for social distancing (I’m always masked and keeping my distance)
- Kids are more comfortable on their home turf
- Inspiration and deadline to clean up your backyard and front porch 😉
- It’s unique – no one else is getting their photos taken at your house
- Excuse to buy some cute new plants or holiday decorations for your yard (optional)
It was a treat to hang out in this extended family’s yard and document how much fun they have together, even in quarantine times.

Did you know that in 1865, General George Custer and his men camped under the sheltering live oaks at Seiders’ Springs? The Shoal Creek Conservatory has the whole history of this location if you’re curious.
History aside, this family was happy to just meet in a mostly people-free spot for family photos in the time of Covid. And those live oaks were the backdrop for some of the photos seen below.
