I met up with this family at the Woodbine Mansion. In case you’re not familiar with that location, it’s a Victorian Mansion situated in downtown Round Rock right off Main Street.
For their holiday photo session, we started outside taking photos on the porch and landscaped grounds.
Then we explored the gazebo and lawn.
Next we made our way inside to appreciate all the different room settings. Their red velvet couch was definitely a favorite.
Finally we headed upstairs for even more rooms to see.
What a beautiful location – full of photogenic spots! You can see some of the location scouting pics I took with my phone below to get a better sense of all this venue has to offer.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these sneak peeks from their family photo session at the Woodbine Mansion. To see all the (password protected) images, visit their gallery HERE.
ps. You may also remember we did their Halloween photo session the same morning!
Stephanie has been taking family photos since my daughter was an infant.
I greatly appreciate the pre-planning. Each year, I come to Stephanie with my daughter’s Halloween costume idea and she scouts multiple locations that would lend for the most realistic portrayals of the alter-ego. She encourages my kid to be a kid, with pretty shots, funny shots, and dancing shots so it doesn’t feel like a stuffy photo shoot (like you would get in a mall).
We combine our Halloween and Christmas photo shoots (with a quick change in between). With a slightly longer session, you can get two amazing sets of photos for family and friends!
Every year I believe she has outdone herself and yet every year she pulls off photographic magic and delivers the most stunning images, themed to my daughter’s crazy imagination.

I met up with this family and their sweet dog for a downtown family photo session. We started at the Seaholm Power Plant. Then we explored our way around the Butterfly Bridge and Central Library block.

The organization! I loved that during this hectic time I didn’t have to worry about logistics. Stephanie had it all covered and was a benevolent director of the entire experience for my “all over the place” family and dog.
Just read what Stephanie sends you and try not to overthink anything. If you’re like me take this short time to be in the moment and just enjoy your family. Let the professional give directions for a change. Your kid(s) will listen to a pro better anyway, right? Mine kind of did… and when my daughter or dog were all over the place it may have provided the most real content to capture.
Bring treats for your dog… And if your kid/dog are easily distracted, use the fart machine.

I met up with this family on Rock Rose Ave. at the Domain. We wandered among the holiday shoppers stopping at all the fun storefronts (and store-sides).
PS. Photo sessions at the Domain do need location permission ahead of time

I have known Stephanie for a long time when I used to work with her picking out photos for math textbooks! We have been photographed by Stephanie for the last 5 years!
Love seeing the different locations and what she has in store!
Let Stephanie know any special requests you might have. We bring the dog every year, and she is more than accommodating with him. And he’s an old grump!
The weather never cooperates, but enjoy, it’s fun!

Not sure what to get someone on your holiday shopping list? Give them photos! Photo gifts are my favorite to give. Past recipients of family photos have included:
Since that’s about 50% of the people I need to shop for, I like to research different ideas for what to do with the photos.
In the past, my favorite photo-based presents to gift have been:
2. Framed photos (this family photo was taken by Blue Lily Photography in 2018)
3. Yearly photo ornaments – I usually get mine at Shutterfly.
Besides these ideas, there are also lots of fun things you can get made from your photos.

Are you familiar with the Sekrit Theater? It’s a space on the Eastside of Austin, available to rent for photo sessions, filled with magical spots – from their greenhouse to a vintage Ford truck to various modes of transportation to explore (school bus, airstream trailer, bikes and more).
The kids were excited to run from spot to spot around the property – and we still didn’t get to everything.
And you have to tell someone a secret at Sekrit Theater, right?
And then you can pretend to ride motorcycles…
And share a bike with your brother…
Then climb through some windows…
To be back where you started at the Greenhouse.

We know Stephanie because our kids’ are the same age at our elementary school, and we’re friends! We learned about Stephanie Friedman Photography because so many families at our school use her and her photos are beautiful!
We love how easy it is to work with Stephanie and how she gets our kids smiling!
Take a look at Stephanie’s gallery! She has scooped out some amazing locations!
Stephanie is amazing with kids and families, and she’s ready to catch them when they are looking their best!
