Wildflowers in a Fall Field | Austin Senior Photographer
When discussing locations for her High School Senior Photo Session, this Class of 2026 student asked for “outdoors and wildflowers.”

Knowing it’s hard to find wildflowers in Austin in the late Summer / early Fall, I started location scouting. (And mentioned we should bring a bouquet of flowers just in case).

But after driving around, I hit a few patches of wildflowers at my fourth location – Brushy Creek Lake Park in Cedar Park, TX.
So we met up (bouquet of flowers as a backup), and had the huge fields mostly to ourselves (it was a Monday night).

Tips for High School Senior Photo Sessions at Brushy Creek Lake Park
- The Park can get crowded on weekends so try for a weekday session
- There are restrooms on site you can use for outfit changes
- Spring can bring fields of wildflowers (including bluebonnets). The rest of the year has lush greenery and tall grass along the water
- Keep an eye out for ants in the fields (I recommend wearing a pair of cowboy boots or pants during your session)
- You can also hike down to the dock for more water views

Client Feedback and Advice
- What prompted you to have this photo session? I wanted to do my senior photos, and I looked online and through your blog and of other pictures you had taken and decided that your work was the best from what I had previously looked at.
- What do you plan to do with your digital photos? Once I get my photos I plan to save them and post them on social media. I also will have them framed in my place once I move out, and I’m sure my mom will want the same.
- How did you choose your location for your session? I was deciding between a few different ones, but when you sent that one (Brushy Creek Lake Park) to my mom, it hit all the points I wanted from the forest and greenery vibe to the water and the sunset vibe.
- What advice would you give to others planning a similar Senior photo session? Plan your outfits before that definitely helped me out, as well as having comfy shoes you can walk in case some heels or boots will hurt your feet. Try o be flexible with posing, it may feel weird, but trust the photographer
- Anything else you’d like to add about working with Stephanie Friedman Photography? She was great! Her directions were easy to follow and made me look amazing. She also made me feel very comfortable overall and was super fun!!
