Brushy Creek Community Gardens – Holiday Portrait Session

Brushy Creek Community Gardens – Holiday Portrait Session

Happy Holidays! Now that the Christmas cards have been sent out, it’s safe to share these family photos.

So during the same session where we take Halloween photos, there is a quick outfit change to make sure Christmas is covered as well.

Brushy Creek Community Center has been the site of this family’s holiday photos before. Check out Carsyn and her friend Kate as babies there from way back in 2013.

Please enjoy some favorite pictures from their portrait session below. Full gallery (password protected) available HERE.

1. How do you know Stephanie Friedman Photography?

Stephanie has been taking beautiful photos of my daughter and I since she was an infant.

2. What was your favorite part of your photo session?

One of my favorite parts, in addition to the sheer magic Stephanie has in capturing the most incredible moments, is her flexibility. We combine a Halloween and Christmas shoot together, arriving dressed fancy for Christmas photos and then doing a quick change into my daughter Halloween costume. We are all busy, and this year obviously posed increased challenges with Covid-19, so it is super important to me to have this combined session. On that note, Stephanie was exceptionally conscious of health and safety needs – wearing a mask and maintaining distancing during the shoot

3. What advice would you give to other people planning a branding session?

Plan your outfit and the theme of the shoot in advance and Stephanie will help you determine the PERFECT location to serve as the most fitting backdrop. Last year she found a mansion for us to shoot my daughter as a vampire for Halloween that also had a beautiful garden and gazebo for our concurrent Christmas photos.

4. Anything else to add?

I have said it before, and I will say it again. Stephanie not only takes absolutely stunning photos, but she does it with laughter and joy. She makes the entire photo shoot fun (including being a kid whispered) and the results exceed my expectations every single year.

Covid-19 Protocols and Safety Procedures for Family Photo Sessions

Covid-19 Protocols and Safety Procedures for Family Photo Sessions

As the Covid pandemic continues in 2020 and likely into 2021, I wanted to share some of the safety protocols and procedures I’ve implemented during my photo sessions.

Outdoor Sessions

  • Family Photo Sessions will take place outdoors only in locations where we have lots of room to social distance
  • I will be masked 100% of the time
  • Majority of images will be taken from 6 ft. away
  • I carry hand sanitizer in my camera bag
  • No contact payments (will use Venmo or PayPal)

Health Concerns

  • If anyone in your family is feeling ill or experiencing symptoms, there is no penalty for rescheduling
  • Let me know if you’ve had contact with anyone who tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 14 days
  • Please let me know if you have additional concerns and any actions I can take to make you feel safer during your photo session

In the meantime, keep those faces covered and stay safe 🙂

Belly Dancer in the Garden – Halloween Portrait Session

Belly Dancer in the Garden – Halloween Portrait Session

One of my favorite shoots of the year is Carsyn’s Halloween session. I love getting texts with links to various costumes being considered and then brainstorming with her mom what location will best suit that year’s outfit.

If you’re curious about past costumes:

  • 2016 she was Dorothy from Oz at Champions Park.
  • 2017 she was Wonder Woman saving Austin buildings downtown
  • 2018 she was the Queen of Hearts in her own Zilker flower garden.
  • 2019 she was a Vampire in the Victorian Woodbine Mansion.

And for 2020 she is a belly dancer in the Brushy Creek Community garden.

Some favorite pictures from her session are below. Full gallery (password protected) available HERE.

Pumpkin Patch – Fall Family Photo Session

Pumpkin Patch – Fall Family Photo Session

I met up with this sweet family at the Barton Hills Farms Pumpkin Patch for their Fall photos. The Farm’s Fall Festival runs through November 15th if you want a chance to visit yourselves. You can go through the corn maze, pick out a pumpkin for carving and let your kids explore. You can read about the Farm’s Covid-19 policies here.

Some favorite pictures from their session are below. Full gallery (password protected) available here.

1. How do you know Stephanie Friedman Photography?

This is our third family photo session with Stephanie and she makes it fun and creative, while capturing amazing images.

2. What was your favorite part of your photo session?

Meeting at Barton Hills Farm allowed for great fall scenes and candid shots of the kiddos playing with pumpkins and in the corn maze.

3. What advice would you give to other people planning a branding session?

Trust Stephanie to frame flattering shots and to make it entertaining for the littles. She is a master!

Inner Sky Yoga Austin – Branding Session

Inner Sky Yoga Austin – Branding Session

I met up with Amber of Inner Sky Yoga at Pfluger Park for a mini branding session. If you’d like to learn more about mindful movement and mudra, you can attend one of her classes.

1. How do you know Stephanie Friedman Photography?

Through a mutual friend and coworker.

2. What was your favorite part of your photo session?

The location Stephanie chose was perfect. It had many different options for backgrounds and was comfortable and visually stimulating. I mentioned that I wanted to be near water for the shoot… not only was I near the water for the photos, I was IN the water for some of them! It was awesome.

3. What advice would you give to other people planning a branding session?

Take some time beforehand to think about what you want to be doing in the photos. I thought I would be able to easily think of yoga poses and other stances in the moment for my shoot, but I am a bit camera shy and I blanked out and wished I had done more to prepare.

4. Anything else you’d like to add?

Stephanie is very professional, friendly, and authentic. She helped me feel more comfortable in front of the camera with her compliments.
