This fun family of 15 was all going to be together in Austin over the holiday break. Not knowing what the weather would do (rain? super cold?), we booked a spot at the Laguna Gloria in case we had to use their Driscoll Villa for indoor photos. Luckily, the weather was lovely, and we could explore the grounds.
Please enjoy some favorites from this family’s extended photo session below.

When your new backyard in Leander, TX is the South San Gabriel River in Garey Park, that’s where you go for your family photo session.
First, we took a short cut through some tall grass. Second, we played around in the water and got some rock climbing in. At the end, a little soaked, a little scratched up, we headed back out – smiling all the time.

Now that the Creek show is over, it’s time to go back to Waterloo Greenway for Family Photo Sessions. It’s my favorite new spot for shoots – such a great mix of architecture and greenery.

Walking around Mills Pond Recreation Area | Austin Family Photographer
Please enjoy some of my favorite Fall photos from this family’s session at Mills Pond.
If you live in Austin and are also interested in having a family photo session at Mills Pond, check out my tips below.
Tips for Family Photo Sessions at Mills Pond:
- This park is one of the spots in Austin that gets Fall color, so plan a late November, early December session if that’s important to you
- Popular with walkers and runners, this trail in Wells Branch also has a fishing pier and floating boat dock to use as backdrops
- You aren’t allowed to feed the ducks and geese on the water
- This park is dog-friendly, but all pets must be on a leash
- There’s a restroom at the park if needed during your session
