+ Where should we take our family photos?
We’ll discuss options during pre-planning – but I have a list of over 50 great spots in and around Austin with a variety of backgrounds from urban to nature settings for family photos.
+ What should we wear for our family photo session?
It depends on your location – will you be hiking along a trail in a park or on top of a downtown garage?
Fit your setting and pick clothes that are comfortable, flattering and that you can move in. This includes picking up kids and sitting on the ground. Plan to coordinate colors (pick 3-4 total) rather than strictly matching. Remember to add accessories. Avoid: neon colors, large logos, phones/wallets in pockets.

+ How should we prepare for our family session?
I’ll email you instructions after we book your session date. You can also check out this BLOG POST. You’ll want to plan outfits, book haircuts and make sure everyone is ready to go once your session date comes around.
+ What should I expect at our family photo session?
When we arrive, I’ll guide your family through a relaxed flow of poses and candid moments — nothing stiff or awkward. Sessions typically run about an hour and include a mix of whole-group shots, smaller groupings (parents, siblings, kids), and some fun candid moments. You’ll receive your edited gallery with a download link about two weeks after your session date.
+ Do you offer mini-sessions for families?
No – I don’t offer family mini-sessions at this time.
+ What type of retouching do you do for Family Portraits?
I like to keep things light and natural when it comes to retouching. If something isn’t permanent (example: acne, scratch, stray hair, stain on your shirt) – I’ll remove it. If I’m not sure – I’ll ask. Otherwise, I want you to look like you, but your best self.
All photos will get exposure and color correction, as well as straightening, sharpening and cropping as needed. Please check out my portfolio page to make sure my editing style matches what you have in mind.
